VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR

Exceptional English speaking local teachers

“The European Azerbaijan School” Education Complex” LLC (EAS) is a private co-educational school founded in 2011. The school is authorized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan but differs significantly from government schools in offering special international programs for which it is fully authorized. These include the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP), Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and the IB Diploma Program. The school has grown from the original 95 students in 2012 to the current population of about 900 and includes an Early Years Program (ages 3-5 years) in addition to its 1-11 grade program. The school is also a member of the Council of International School (CIS) network.

EAS is seeking qualified, trained, experienced, motivated and dedicated local teachers who are committed to developing students to their full potential in a supportive and caring environment. Applicants must have a teaching degree that is recognized by the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan.

Positions are available commencing September 2020:

1. Early Years Teacher

Requirements:

- Higher education in Early Childhood Development/Early Years or other relevant qualification (preferably a master degree);
- At least 2 years of professional teaching experience (reflected in the labor book);
- Excellent knowledge of English (Cambridge equivalent C1or better);
- Strong subject knowledge;
- Expertise in teaching early literacy and math skills;
- Previous experience teaching the curriculum of the school would be preferable;
- Comfortable proactively learning new technology and integrating technology into the classroom to increase learning;
- Previous experience working in an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, experience with Constructivist learning pedagogy or Inquiry Based-Primary Years Program (PYP) pedagogy;
- Ability to apply interactive teaching and learning methods.

2. Primary Home-room teachers

Requirements:

- Higher education in Elementary Teaching/Education or equivalent (preferably a master degree);
- At least 2 years of professional teaching experience (reflected in the labor book);
- Excellent knowledge of English (Cambridge equivalent C1or better);
- International experience is desirable;
- Expertise in teaching early literacy skills;
- Previous experience teaching the curriculum of the school would be preferable;
- Knowledge and experience developing primary curriculum or creating PYP units is preferable;
- Comfortable proactively learning new technology and integrating technology into the classroom to increase learning;
- Previous experience working in an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, experience with Constructivist learning pedagogy or Inquiry Based-Primary Years Program (PYP) pedagogy;
- Ability to apply interactive teaching and learning methods.

3. Secondary Subject Teachers (instruction being in English)
(including delivery in, some or all of IB MYP, IGCSE, IB DP)

- Science (Biology/Physics/Chemistry) teacher
- Mathematics Teacher
- History Teacher
- Geography Teacher
- Economics Teacher
- Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
- Russian/German/Spanish Teachers
- Arts/Drama Teacher
- Physical Education Teacher
- Computer Science Teacher

Requirements:

- Higher education (preferably a master degree);
- At least two years of teaching experience;
- Good knowledge of English (Cambridge equivalent at least B2, C1 or better)
- Previous experience working in an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, experience with Constructivist learning pedagogy or Inquiry Based Learning (IBL);
- Ability to apply interactive teaching and learning methods.
- Excellent knowledge of computer office standard applications, especially familiarity with Google and G suite and integrating technology into the classroom to increase learning.

CVs should include the following information:

- All detailed information about work experience;
- Names and contact details of 2 professional referees

CVs will be shortlisted based on a candidate’s work experience and meeting the requirements. Successful candidates will be tested for their subject knowledge and competency:

- Interviews;
- Subject, English language tests;
- A pedagogical essay;
- Demonstration lesson;
- Potential computer skills test.
