Job title Mechanical Engineer
This position includes mechanical engineering responsibilities for the daily operation of Sangachal Terminal, a world class facility producing 1mmbd oil and 900 mmscfd gas - The post is based at the Sangachal Terminal, which is located approximately one-hour’s drive south of Baku. Transportation from Baku to the Terminal with BP trained drivers will be provided. - The incumbent will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team providing value added engineering solutions / recommendations for opportunities at Sangachal Terminal - Deliver optimum performance from mechanical systems by focusing on defect elimination and improving maintenance strategies and practices.
Key accountabilities
• Actively participate in the Management of Change (MOC) and Engineering Query (EQ) processes • Provide input to all plant modifications to ensure they are designed and installed in compliance with company technical practices and optimize performance. • Ensure compliance with relevant company, industry, and regulatory standards. • Analyze static / rotating equipment problems and develop or recommend solutions • Provide support for incident and root cause failure analysis investigations. • Participate in Hazops, design reviews, and risk assessments. • Ensure relevant technical documentation is kept up to date. • Participate in discipline related BP and external networks. • Input into the technical review and selection of operating and insurance spares for mechanical systems. • Liase with the Contract Accountable Managers (CAM) for the mechanical operations support contracts, to ensure that performance is managed and opportunities for improvement exploited. • Interface with equipment vendors for and on behalf of the Engineering Team. Essential criteria & qualifications
• University degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification • Minimum 5 years experience of Engineering / Maintenance & Operations • Minimum 10 years of overall experience in oil-gas industry • Familiarity with industry standards (ASME – American Society of Mechanical Engineers, API – American Petroleum Institute, NACE – National Association of Corrosion Engineers) • Ability to interpret “Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams” (P&ID’s) and Cause & Effect Diagrams (CED’s) • Ability to prepare and review equipment data sheets on stationary as well as rotary equipment.
Desirable criteria & qualifications
• Previous plant experience • Proficiency with pipe stress analysis and familiar with Engineering software's • Familiarity with and experience in selection of pumps, compressors. • Experience in piping design • Working towards IMechE Chartered Engineer or other Professional Engineer status
