Deputy Chief Accountant
Experience
Minimum 4 years of work experience in a related field is required. Minimum 1 year of work experience in a similar capacity is also required.
Knowledge of applicable tax legislation and local accounting and reporting requirements is a must ACCA/CPA/CIMA (any other equivalent certification system) candidates will be given strong preference.
Education
University education in finance, accounting and/or other related business disciplines. Students with a degree from a US/European university are encouraged to apply
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office programs (Excel, Word) - Experience with one of ERP programs (1C, SAP, Oracle, Navision, Sun Systems etc.) will be preferred
Fluency in Azerbaijani, Russian and English
Responsibilities
Financial Accounting Lead, coordinate and supervise, on a daily basis, the work of financial accounting department; Prepare and update Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual for local reporting purposes; Ensure timely closing of reporting periods and timely preparation of statutory information for tax and financial reporting purposes Define (subject to approval by Financial Controller) accounting treatment of various technical issues and implement the approved treatment; Daily control GL entries Work with the various departments to coordinate the proper flow of accounting information and resolve issues on an on-going basis. Establish and maintain (in cooperation with other finance departments) proper documents circulation; Cooperate with other departments on issues relevant to the accounting and tax. Support other departments on questions concerning VAT, invoices and other tax-related issues. Work with ERP team in ensuring proper operation of automated controls over business processes and availability of reliable data; Cooperate with IT department to ensure data integrity (e.g. regular back-up of ERP database) Ensure proper reconciliations, checks and error detection procedures are in place. Tax Accounting Ensure compliance with applicable tax legislation and local accounting and reporting requirements in all aspects Ensure timely submission of tax filings to the tax authorities by pre-determined deadlines; Manage tax planning and tax optimization activities within the framework of applicable legislation; Perform regular reviews (at appropriate circumstances by involving a professional tax consultant) to identify tax risks and suggest solutions to minimize and/or eliminate the risks; Monitor changes in tax and other applicable legislation to ensure continuous compliance with tax and other relevant laws and regulations Reporting and Audits Support preparation of management accounts (P&L, Cash Flow statement, Balance Sheet) for each month by a set deadline; Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS on a pre-defined frequency; Assist external auditors in performing their audits of IFRS financial statements and local PTR; Manage tax and other local audits and examinations, liaison with tax authorities Supervision, Education and Performance Appraisal Set goals for and monitor the performance of staff in the accounting department in line with the Company policies; Ensure compliance of staff in the accounting department with all Company policies and procedures; Educate, train and support develop the staff;
Chief Accountant may have to perform other tasks as delegated by the Finance Director and deemed to be in the competency of Chief Accountant.
