LOGISTICS SPECIALIST

Summary

The Logistics Specialist has to establish a logistic system, to ensure the delivery of goods and materials just in time to the construction site.
The main functions of the Logistics Specialist will include customs clearance, purchasing, transportation, warehousing (JB8-area and on site) and the organizing and planning of these activities.
The Logistics Specialist is expected to exercise initiative in the performance of assigned duties, apply the technical knowledge in the performance of their duties and exercise judgment within the scope of their authority. The Logistics Specialist will be under the direct supervision of the Project Manager.

Essential Duties

1. Purchases equipment and supplies and manages transportation, inventory and warehousing.
2. Provides a full-range of administrative support to the Project Manager, such as camp, kitchen, entry cards organization for 1000 workers.
3. Reports and communicates all departmental and outside emergency program concerns, issues, request for information and inquiries to the Project Manager.
4. Prepares a wide variety of reports, letters, memoranda, statistical charts and other materials related to responsibilities assigned.
5. Accurately enters all transactions into inventory control system.
6. Labels all inventory items and stage inventory materials for usage.
7. Collects and assembles data and background materials.
8. Maintains maintenance schedules for all equipment and ensures operational readiness.
9. Maintains operational procedures and manuals for all equipment.
10. Assists the Project Manager in developing business tools and solutions based on knowledge, product or technology, and identify logistics process improvements.

Other Duties

1. Tracks and traces all property, supplies and resources needed to support training or response activities.
2. Assists and supports the Project Manager in the development of plans and emergency preparedness exercises.
3. During emergency/disaster response and recovery phases of emergency management, must be able to function for prolonged periods of time under severe and highly stressful conditions.
4. Keeps a strategic and creative mindset to enhance and increase operational effectiveness.
5. Ensures diplomacy, professional appearance, strong relationship building and maintains good working relationships.
6. Works extended and unusual hours, including weekends, holidays and/or off-hour shifts during emergencies or disaster situations and during training programs, preparedness exercises and public outreach events.
7. Subject to on call, twenty-four hour rotating shifts and seven day work weeks.
8. Carries (and responds to) assigned cell phone or other communication devices when on duty and/or on call.
9. Follows the chain of command at all times and operates under departmental and incident command requirements during emergency and non-emergency operations.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

An associate degree in Business Administration or Inventory Management is highly desirable but not required.  Must have five years relevant work experience in purchasing and inventory management and a minimum of three years of public safety experience. Equivalent experience/combined education will be considered.
