Network Engineer      

1. Key Goal

The Network Engineer will be an integral part of Company’s engineering and design team. 
The Network Engineer as part of the design team has the responsibility for the ongoing design, support and maintenance of Company network. The IP Engineer will perform network IP design, optimization and maintenance activities, liaise with partners and suppliers and may from time to time assist our technical staff with in field testing/deployment.  They will be innovative in their approach to solution development as they apply their technical skills and experience to their work.


2. Responsibilities
   
• Represent the design and operations teams internally and externally in a way that is consistent with Companies values, current direction, aspirational culture and operational state. 
• Oversee the installation, configuration and support of various solution elements as required across Company’s national IP network. 
• Attend and contribute to customer-facing meetings, as technical support to Company’s sales team.
• Provisioning of new services on the network.
• 2nd level support for faults and provisioning to Level 1 technicians and NOC during and after business hours. 
• Support, display and develop the core values of Accountability, Partnering, Innovation and Fun in the business. 
• Needs to be Ethical and professional in their practices at all times. 
• Be innovative in approach and be able to logically express why a particular course of action was undertaken. 


3. Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills

3.1 Diploma
• BA in Computer Engineering or MA in Computer Science or equivalent

3.2 Experience

• Formal tertiary qualifications in information technology/electrical engineering/computing science (Bachelor Degree or higher) 
• A minimum of three year’s hands on in field experience practicing IP Engineering or a similar equivalent role 
• CCNP qualification or greater is expected. Experienced applicants who are currently at CCNA level and are formally studying their CCNP will also be well regarded. 
• Working understanding of IP network addressing and sub netting provisioning of Cisco routers and switches and similar equipment from other vendors. 
• An understanding and ability to configure Cisco switching and routing equipment down to CLI level. 
• Good verbal and written communication skills and an ability to express themselves concisely. 
• Some layer 1/2 knowledge of microwave transmission technologies and their use in IP networks. 
• Strong knowledge of switched networks troubleshooting, design and deployment in a production setting.
